Baby Bits Order

So, I've been raiding the camera again - for photos of projects I finished before the bedrest started.

This time, I thought I'd show you this set of baby things I made.  Not for our little one, but an order for a gift.

Here goes.....

I made a bib:

A big bag (to carry changing-essentials in):

And a quilt:

Luckily, I managed to finish everything off just in time!  I got the bed rest instruction the DAY after I sent the package off!!!

Now let me see what I can find on the camera for my next post.....

Bags of Bags

So, tomorrow's Christmas Fair day at school.  I think I'm all set to go.  Everything's packed up by the front door, and I'll be setting up my stall during lunch break.  Does anyone else feel stupidly nervous before craft fairs???

Here's another quick show-and-tell of what I've been making, in preparation for the fair.  Today's 'topic' is bags.....

A grey, yellow and white stripy one:

A white, red, turquoise and grey spotty one:

A green, yellow, brown and white spotty one:

A turquoise, blue, lime and brown stripy one:

And an orangey-red, lime and yellow one:

My favourite's the turquoise, blue, lime and brown stripy one.  I want to keep it.  Is that bad?  I may have to sneak it off my stall and keep it for myself.  We'll see how the willpower goes tomorrow.....

These bags were all made from the 'Buttercup Bag' pattern, from Made by Rae.  You can download the (brilliant) pattern for free here, and you can buy a license to sell them if you wish to do so.

I'll let you know how the fair goes.....

Bye for now!

Bags of Bags

Over the summer, while I was back in the UK, I bought lots of new fabrics.  I can't believe I forgot to take a photo of them at the time, to show you on here!  Bad blogger!!!

So, instead, I'm going to show you what I've been making with my new stash - bags of bags.....

As always, my favourite task was sortimg through my stash and matching colours and prints together!

I still have plenty of fabric left.  So.....  what shall I make next?????

Have a great weekend!

Quilt Commission

I wanted to do a show-and-tell of this project before the summer holidays, but my computer issues got in my way.  Now that I have a shiny new laptop that works (for now), I’m going to try with this post again.....

One of my sister’s colleagues wanted a present for a new mum friend of hers, and Jessica (who’s very good at telling people ‘my sister makes things’) put her in touch with me.  She decided to order a baby boy’s quilt (she’d seen one I’d made last year), and asked for a big bag to match – a baby buggy bits and bobs bag!!!

I made the quilt first.  I could spend ALL DAY long picking out and matching up fabrics, cutting them into little squares, and sewing them together.  What fun!!!  Sandwiching the top, bottom and batting together, pinning it all, sewing it all up.....  hmmmm..... not quite SO much fun.  I put that bit off for quite a while.  But, when I eventually finished the quilt, I LOVED it!!!

After that, I had to make the bag.  I wanted it to match with the quilt, but I didn’t want to use the really little-boy-ish robot and cog fabrics.  So, I bought some plain blue fabric (I picked the colour from the background of the robots and cogs) for the outside, and used the yellow checked fabric from the quilt for the lining of the bag.  I also incorporated some of the brighter colours from the quilt by sewing on a spotty rosette and some buttons.

Luckily, the girl who placed the order AND the new mum really liked both items.  Phew!!!

After this commission, I was VERY excited to get TWO more orders for baby quilts from Jessica’s colleagues.  More showing and telling to come.....

Happy weekend, dear blog pals!!!

Sewing Update

I was having a little look through my last few posts this morning, and realised that I haven’t done a ‘show and tell’ of what I’ve been up to on my sewing machine for AAAAAGES!!!

I’ve shared crocheting, book reviews, paper crafts, bargain buys, photography, knitting, poetry, crafty gifts I’ve received, and even (shock of shocks)..... baking!  But, I haven’t shared any of my sewing with you since February.  And that’s very silly indeed, as I spend most of my time sewing and I  SEWING most out of all my crafting adventures!

So, here’s just a teeny-weeny taster of what I’ve been busying myself with over the past few weeks.....

[lots of colourful little rosettes]

[a spotty carry-all bag in my latest favourite colour combo]

[another carry-all bag.....]

[... and another!]

[some little gadget cases - for iphones, cameras, etc.]

[red and navy felt flower corsage]

[orange and purple felt flower corsage]

[purple and yellow felt flower corsage]

[some make-up/toiletry bags]

[kids' apron.....]

[...that's reversible]

[and another one....]

[... also reversible]

I’ll be putting some of these in to my Etsy and Misi stores, and I’ll be saving others for some fairs and markets I hope to be doing over the summer months (my first fairs/markets ever).

Happy weekend, lovely blogging friends!
