Baby's Bedroom

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post!  You're all so sweet!!!

Now here's a post I've been meaning to do for aaages.....  Bo's bedroom!

It was a joint effort.  Simon did all the decorating, sticking on of wall-stickers, and putting together of IKEA furniture.  And I did all the making (and buying)!

Here it is (apologies in advance for the photo-overload).....

We're very happy with how it turned out!  I love how bright and colourful it is!  We hope Bo'll like it when he eventually starts sleeping in there.....  Fingers crossed!!!

See you soon!

Bo's Monthly Photos (1 to 3)

Hi All,

Thank you for your sweet comments on my last few baby-sewing posts!  Unfortunately, I haven't yet got a snap of my big and little boys in their matching bow-ties, but I'm working on it.....  ;-)

I'd LOVE to share some photos of Bo with you today, though!

Inspired by Pinterest (as ever), I decided that I wanted to take a special photo of Bo, every month, to record how he grows and changes.  I saw some examples where people had used chalkboard walls as backdrops, and written about their babies' monthly milestones on them.  I thought that was a brilliant idea!

Simon had been talking about painting a blackboard wall for a while.  He wanted it for writing food-ideas and notes on.  With a bit of nagging from me, he got around to it just in time for Bo's 1-month birthday!

I tried writing on the wall with chalk.  In 'real life', it looked good and really clear.  But, on the photos, it didn't look so great.  So I cheated and did the writing during the photo-editing stage!

So, here are Bo's monthly photos numbers 1 to 3:

I know I'm TOTALLY biased.....  But isn't he scrumptious?!?

Time has just FLOWN by!!!  It seems like no time at all since we were bringing a tiny little newborn home - and yet he'll be 16 WEEKS on Sunday (photo shoot time again)!!!

See you around the blogosphere.....

Hugs,

Carly

Mini-cot Quilt

Hello there,

Thank you all SO much for your sweet comments on my last post.  You're all so kind!

This time, I wanted to show you a quilt I made for Bo, before he was born (of course BEFORE he was born - I haven't yet found the time for ANY crafting SINCE).

One of the first baby items we bought was a 'mini-cot'.  We wanted something for the baby to sleep in, in our bedroom, for the first few months.  But we weren't keen on any of the moses baskets or cribs we'd seen around.  They were all either really stylish but WAY too expensive, or a reasonable price but WAY too flouncy/pastely/twee for our tastes.  Then we saw this 'mini-cot' on Kiddicare.  It was exactly what we'd had in mind - and it was a sensible price!

So then I had to make a quilt to go inside it.  Of course, it's only been used for decorative purposes (advise is to definitely NOT use quilts for babies), but I had to make one just the same!

And, here it is.....

And here are some photos of our bedroom (there's a whole post on it here) - I made Bo's quilt to match, of course.....

Next time, I think I might do a 'show-and-tell' of the quilt I made for Bo's BIG cot.....  because a baby can never have too many (purely decorative) quilts!!!

Wishing you all a happy (and sunny) weekend.....

Our Fairytale Forest Bedroom

A few months ago, we decided to redecorate our bedroom.  We saw this amazing wallpaper, and HAD to have it.  And it was the wallpaper that inspired the rest.

Simon did all the decorating, and I contributed by sewing some patchwork cushion covers and making some papercuts for the walls (and by doing a bit of shopping, of course).....

I LOVE:
  • papercutting
  • making parchwork cushions
  • shopping in IKEA
  • red paired with bright blue
  • Russian dolls
  • little wooden ladybirds
  • magical, glowing bunny rabbits

But I DON'T love:
  • visiting DIY stores
  • getting covered in paint
  • hanging pictures
  • hemming curtains

Luckily, we BOTH LOVE our new bedroom!!!

More Patchwork Cushions

Apart from making button bracelets like a madwoman (how many can one button-lover possibly need?!?!?), I've also been making more patchwork cushions.  I enjoyed making my first 'batch' so much, I thought I rustle up a few more.

Here they are:

Which one do you like best?  My favourite's the top one.  I'm liking red with purple at the moment!

I'm hoping to re-do our bedroom soon - then I'll have a great excuse to make heaps more patchwork cushions!  I'll keep you posted on that project.....

Would anyone be interested in a tutorial for these?

See you soon!

Carly
